Protection and comprehensive aid to vulnerable populations

The frontline communities of Donetsk oblast remain among the most vulnerable: constant shelling, destroyed infrastructure and the collapse of local services make daily life dangerous. The elderly, large families and people with disabilities are hit hardest, as they struggle to evacuate or to reach aid on their own.

What we did

The project ran in 2025 with a comprehensive approach to supporting displaced people and people affected by shelling. Case management for affected families gave them systematic access to social, medical, administrative, legal and evacuation services and helped cover basic needs: 651 people received comprehensive assistance, 66 people with limited mobility got social transportation, and 230 sleeping kits, 25 hygiene kits and 150 first-aid kits with haemostatic agents were distributed (annual report 2025, pp. 18-19).

Funding

This is one of three projects the Ukrainian NGO Fund of the National Network for Local Philanthropy Development financed in 2025 with support from DEC and the Start Network. In total the foundation received 5,467,366.31 UAH from it (annual report 2025, p. 54) and spent 4,999,914.00 UAH across the three grants (pp. 56-57). The report does not split that sum between the three projects, so no separate budget is shown here.
